Starting from the World Heritage town of Quedlinburg, the train climbs steadily into the foothills to the south before reversing to climb north to the busy junction at Drei Annen Hohne. From here, it is a climb of over 3000 feet to the summit of the highest mountain, the Brocken. At this point, we are just a couple of miles inside the old East German Border, with views of old watch towers from the Cold War and much more besides. All of this is explained in the museum at the top of the Brocken, which you can visit at leisure in between drinking in the views, before we return down the mountain to Wernigerode.
Charter From Quedlinburg Estimated Timings:
Coach pick-ups from all hotels between 06.30 – 06.50 for the 25–30-minute coach journey to Quedlinburg station for a 07.40 departure, with an arrival time at the summit of the Brocken of 13.00. You will have two hours to explore the summit. The train departs from the Brocken at 15.00 arriving at Wernigerode station at 16.50. Passengers will be transferred to hotels by coach or by foot for those in walking distance.

Joining The Charter Later From Drei Annen Hohne:
Any passengers who would like to have a more leisurely start, can opt to be escorted on to the 10.25 service train from Wernigerode station to Drei Annen Hohne arriving at 11.02. Our special charter train will be arriving at Drei Annen Hohne at 12.09 en route to the Brocken summit, where you can then join our train for the rest of this special trip.

Coach transfers will be provided from any hotels not in walking distance of Wernigerode station for the 10.25 service train.

On the Harz Mountains trains there are no catering facilities. However, hot and cold drinks plus a variety of snacks will be available on-board the train for purchase, with cash payment in Euros. Drinks can also be bought on the Brocken summit.
